Societal impact
Twitter has a great influence on what society does and does not do. It can be used in both positive and harmful manners, but more often than not, it is utilized for good. For example, companies all over the globe tweeted out reminders to "go green" this past Earth Day.
This can be seen when my father's business, Fields Automotive, tweeted out a link to their Facebook page, in which it said, "Happy Earth Day! Over one billion people in 192 countries are participating in this day to create environmental awareness among the masses and help protect our ecosystem."
Twitter also has the power to create social movements, such as the one pertaining to the legalization of gay marriage. Unless you have lived under a rock the past month, you've probably seen this symbol. Budlight, being the creative genius' they are, played with that symbol and designed the advertisement below. It signifies that Budlight supports their LBGT market.
